Having spent more than 23 years in Milpitas, the only city I have known since immigrating to the United States, I have dedicated over 12 years to volunteering in various community organizations such as PTA/PTSA, Language School, the City Chamber of Commerce, and Rotary Clubs. In 2022, I was honored to be elected to the Milpitas Unified School Board. This extensive involvement has compelled me to step up and serve the city at the council level.
With my experience, expertise and education, I believe at a City level, I can better serve the community as a whole. My campaign is built on CARING for our community.
What do I mean by CARES :
Armed with a multifaceted background spanning technology, finance, and community involvement, I am dedicated to fostering an atmosphere of openness and transparency within the council. I am confident that my diverse experience will inject fresh perspectives and drive meaningful progress in our city’s governance.
If entrusted with the responsibility of being a council member, my focus will be, in no particular order:
In addition I would be accountable and answerable to the residents of this great City by being responsive and responsible representative. I would make sure input from the community is paramount for all our decisions and would like to make it easy for you to reach me with your ideas and concerns.
Our city has great potential, and with thoughtful planning and collaboration, we can achieve remarkable things. I will prioritize economic development, support small businesses, and invest in our local schools and public services. Together, we can create a thriving, sustainable future for Milpitas.
I have dedicated myself to public service and community engagement, starting with being in PTA/PTSAs, Rotary, Girl Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, language school among others. I am proud to be the first Indian American, first-generation women of color, elected to the public office in Milpitas. I am currently serving as an elected trustee at Milpitas Unified School District. In 2022, I chaired the Measure E campaign, that successfully passed and brought in over $12 million dollars to fund STEM programs for our school district. For the last two years I have worked to address the needs of our students, advocating for better public services, improved infrastructure, and more services for our students, including being part of the wonderful start of our Innovation Campus. Engaging in high-level conferences, interfacing with legislators, and participating in pioneering projects like our innovation campus broadened my horizons and equipped me with invaluable insights for effective governance.
Additionally, my volunteer work with the City Chamber of Commerce and Rotary clubs over the past few years has provided excellent opportunities to collaborate with businesses, undertake service projects, and engage with the broader Milpitas Community.
This journey has taught me pivotal lessons that will serve me well on the council:
